Today marks a very special day in the history of the credit union. It was on this day 60 years ago that 13 inspired men first met in Dublin Castle to establish St. Raphael’s Garda Credit Union. With shares of just 2/6d, St. Raphael’s started providing small loans to members of An Garda Síochána.
It’s a remarkable achievement that from such humble beginnings, St. Raphael’s has grown to be the vibrant, innovative and financially strong credit union that it is today.
To all the voluntary Directors, Management and staff who have gone before, a huge thank you is due for your part in St. Raphael’s. To the current team of people, as custodians for the future, a huge thank you is due for all your efforts too.
Most importantly to you the membership, and to all the men and women who have gone before, it is because of your unwavering trust, support and belief in St. Raphael’s, that has enabled St. Raphael’s to flourish over the last 60 years. Without you, simply put, it would not exist.
We will continue to grow and flourish into the future, keeping our values at the heart of everything we do, to mind the financial wellbeing of all our current and future members.
Míle buíochas,
Peter Callaghan
Chair of Board of Directors
